DESIGN INTERNSHIP - NEPAL

Summer 2017

Through the University of Notre Dame, Abigail traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal for a service-learning exchange program to develop new fair trade product lines for the Association for Craft Producers. Under the guidance of the Nepali design team, and in collaboration with the artisans, Abigail created the patterns and products featured below.

Folding Floor Seat - Original Furniture Design This backed floor seat is designed to fold completely flat for easy storage and to reduce shipping costs. The seat was designed to provide support for meditation or for dining at a low table.	Bedroom Set This print took inspiration from the bright colors of Kathmandu. Copper Nativity Ornament Set	Incense Burner & Candle Holder The stacked stone design draws inspiration from meditation and the balance of yoga. It was designed to match a block-printed grey and green yoga mat with a stone design.	Mermaid & Pirate Felt Dolls The mermaid and pirate were designed to both expand ACP's range of children's toys as well as to utilize felt (especially the sequined felt used for the mermaid) already in stock, but not currently employed in any designs.
Felt Mermaid Doll This felt toy was designed to expand ACP's line of children's toys as well as to utilize existing felts already in stock.	Candy - Screen Printed Paper This design of candies and lollipops duly functions as a pattern for Christmas and Valentine's Day, depending on the color combination. ACP uses screen printed papers to create decorative boxes and packaging as well as sells sheets individually for wrapping.	Nautilus & Seashell Bedroom Set

BOOK ILLUSTRATION

Fall 2017

Based on Neil Ruttenberg's imaginative descriptions for his novel "Cakewalk", I created a cover design and "field journal" style illustrations. These illustrations were inserted throughout the book whenever the questing heroines encountered a new monster on their journey toward an unknown safe haven.
